As part of our commitment to keep you safe from SMS phishing scams, we will be using email and push notifications as our default channels of communication.

Here are some of the services where SMS alerts will be replaced progressively with email alerts from March 2025 onwards:

  • Payments
  • Collections
  • Account balance
  • Statements

SMS alerts for transaction approvals will not be replaced and will continue to be sent.

For your subscribed services that have been switched from SMS to email, you will automatically receive the alerts via email to your registered email address, instead of via SMS to your registered mobile number.

Other mobile recipients of your subscribed alerts will no longer receive SMS alerts. If you would like them to continue receiving alerts, please add their email addresses as recipients via IDEAL.

Push notification settings remain unchanged. If you have previously opted to receive an alert via push notification, you will continue to do so. If you have not downloaded the DBS IDEAL mobile app, please do so and provision your digital token to start receiving push notifications.

Create and manage your alerts in DBS IDEAL

Here is how you can create and manage alerts in DBS IDEAL.

  1. Log in to DBS IDEAL.
  2. Go to the top right-hand corner, and select the person icon to access your Profile & Settings.
  3. Go to Security & Preferences, and select Alerts & Notifications.
  4. Select the alerts you want to set up.
  5. To create an alert, select Create personalised alert.
  6. Select to receive the alerts via IDEAL mobile app alert or email. To have the same alert sent to other coworkers, add their email address.
  7. Select Submit to create and save alert.
  8. To manage your alerts, go to the alert and select Show saved alerts. Then select Edit or Delete. You will not be able to delete mandatory alerts. However, you can edit how you want to receive them. 
How to enable push notifications

On your device, please remember to allow notifications from the DBS IDEAL mobile app to receive push notifications:

  1. Go to Settings on your mobile device
  2. Select Notifications
  3. Select DBS IDEAL mobile app
  4. Tap Allow Notifications

Manage Alerts

How do I know if an alert no longer supports SMS?

Log into DBS IDEAL and select the Profile & Settings icon at the top right hand corner. Then under Security & Preferences, select Alerts & Notifications. On the Manage alerts page, select an alert. For alerts that no longer support SMS, a banner will be shown at the bottom of the page specifying that “We no longer support SMS alerts.”

I have previously set up an SMS alert to another mobile recipient that is not my registered mobile number. Will that mobile recipient continue to receive alerts?

No, only alerts previously sent via SMS to your registered mobile number will be switched to email alerts sent to your registered email with the bank. 

If you have previously subscribed other recipients to receive SMS notifications, edit your saved alerts to add their emails under ‘Send email notifications’ if you want them to continue receiving alerts: Login > Profile & Settings > Alerts & Notifications > Edit saved alerts

How do I apply or change my Alert notification preferences?

You can choose your preferred notification preference by logging into DBS IDEAL and selecting the Profile & Settings icon at the top right hand corner. Then under Security & Preferences, select Alerts & Notifications.

Do I need to update the Bank if I have changed my mobile number/email address?

Yes, please update the Bank as soon as possible with your latest email address and mobile number via DBS IDEAL.

Why am I not receiving email notification after opting for email alerts?

Once you have opted to receive email alerts, it may take up to one working day for the change to take effect. Please ensure your email address registered with the Bank is valid and updated to receive email alerts.

Please also check your junk folder and add [email protected] and [email protected] to your contact list to prevent future emails from going into your junk folder.

Why did I receive an Alert when I did not make any transaction on my account?

Inbox & Push Notifications

How do I access the notification inbox?

You can access the notification inbox by logging into DBS IDEAL, then tapping on the bell icon at the top right of your screen.

What is Push Notification?

Push Notifications are alerts relating to your banking activity that will be sent to your mobile device.

These messages will be stored in your notification inbox for your easy tracking and reference. Please go to your device settings to turn on notifications for DBS IDEAL mobile app in order to receive them.

What are the benefits of registering for Push Notification?

You will be able to enjoy secured banking experience at your fingertip & conveniently monitor your transactions through your notification inbox. 

You can also monitor your account closely for any fraudulent transaction or SMS phishing. 

What happens after I enable Push Notifications?

You will receive mobile push notifications for selected services securely in your DBS IDEAL inbox.

You will need to turn on your notifications for DBS IDEAL mobile app in your device setting or when you allow notification upon downloading the app for the first time.

Where will I see the Push Notification messages that have been sent to my mobile phone?

Tap on the bell icon at the top right of your DBS IDEAL mobile app home screen to view your messages under Notifications.

Why am I receiving alerts via Push Notification instead of SMS?

Alerts sent via Push Notification will be stored in your inbox and you will be able to view all your important banking alerts conveniently in one place.

What do I need to do to ensure I receive Email and Push Notification Alerts?

Ensure your email address registered with the Bank is valid and updated.

To receive push notification alerts, please allow notifications for DBS IDEAL mobile app on your device settings. Go to Settings > Notifications > DBS IDEAL mobile app > Allow Notifications.

How many devices can I register to receive Push Notification?

You can only register one device at any one point in time. The device registered with your DBS IDEAL digital token will be the device receiving push notifications.

Why am I not receiving Push Notifications on my mobile?

It could be due to the following reasons: 

  • Change of registered mobile device
  • It can only be activated on one mobile phone at a time 
  • Device notification setting is disabled
  • Your DBS IDEAL Mobile app is deleted
  • Your DBS IDEAL Mobile app is not updated to the latest version
  • Your mobile device is not connected to WIFI or data network
Do I need to download DBS IDEAL mobile app to receive Push Notification?

Yes, you will need DBS IDEAL mobile app to be able to receive Push Notifications. Download DBS IDEAL mobile on the App Store / Play Store.
