Activate Card's Magnetic Stripe for Overseas Use
This service allows you to activate the magnetic stripe on any of your cards prior to overseas travel.
- In line with the industry's measures to enhance cards' security, the magnetic stripe on all DBS or POSB Credit, Debit and ATM Cards will be disabled for overseas use.
- The risk of unauthorised transactions occurring on your card is higher when the magnetic stripe on your card is enabled for overseas use, as the magnetic stripe information can be easily copied.
- The enhanced security measures seek to provide you with greater peace of mind and added security for your future Card transactions.
You can activate/de-activate your Card’s Magnetic Stripe for the following:
- Cash withdrawals from your Savings or Current Accounts that are linked to that Card.
- Credit Card Cash Advance
- Credit/Debit Card Retail Transactions
Simply select the Card that you would like to update. You would be able to see its current status, whether it is currently allowed or disallowed. An allowed status means that your Card’s Magnetic Stripe has been allowed for overseas use. If you would like to change the status of the Card, select the new status under “Update Magnetic Stripe”, followed by a period of use. Upon successfully updating your magnetic stripe, you will be able to use the Card overseas during the stipulated period of time.
