Consumption Trends in China

Consumer surveys covering spending patterns, brand desirability, channel and packaging preferences.

Consumption Trends in China (phase 2)

Our surveys reveal consumer resilience and opportunities, especially in lower-tier cities and among higher-income groups; a majority still plan to lift spending ahead, prioritizing on essential and quality goods.

Consumers’ top preferences to increase spending include groceries and health & wellness, favouring organic foods and dairy products. Local cuisines & hotpot / fast food are also amongst top choices for dine-out / deliveries.

Favourable raw material prices could also boost margins ahead, while any impact of potential Sino-US trade tensions on F&B names should remain manageable. We prefer CR Beer, China Mengniu; YUM China and Haidilao could also benefit from potential consumption stimulus.
