Approval policy

Depending on your organisation’s approval policy, the number of approvers or approval groups needed for a payment can vary for different payment types.  

To learn more about your approval policy, you may wish to contact your organisation’s IDEAL administrator. 
 


Approve payments
  1. Log in to DBS IDEAL

  1. Go to the main menu and select Approvals.  

  1. Go to the section Payment/Transaction, and select at least one transaction to reject or approve.  

  1. To proceed, select Review & Approve

  1. Check if the transaction details are correct, then select Approve
     

The next steps depend on the device you’re using. Go to the relevant section to continue. 

You’re using a desktop computer

1. You will receive a notification from the IDEAL app on your registered mobile phone. Tap on it, and swipe to approve the payment. If you do not receive it, make sure your mobile phone settings allow push notifications from the IDEAL app. 

2. Verify your identity using fingerprints or other biometric authentication methods. Once done, you would have approved the payment. 

If multiple approvers are needed, the status will show as ‘partially approved’. The next approver in the workflow will need to review and approve the payment before it is processed by bank.  

3. Once you approve a payment, you will receive a notification by email and SMS. This confirms that you have approved the transaction.  

You’re using the IDEAL mobile app

1. Verify your identity using fingerprints or other biometric authentication methods. You may receive a text message (SMS) containing a security code (also known as challenge code). Enter it in the app, then select Approve

2. Once authenticated, you would have approved the transaction.  
 
If multiple approvers are needed, the status will show as ‘partially approved’. The next  approver in the workflow will need to review and approve the payment before it is processed by bank. 

3. Once you approve a transaction, you will receive a notification by email and SMS. This confirms that you have approved the transaction.
